Spiced Winter Warm-Up with Silk

The folks at Silk have made creating unique drinks (with or without booze) a breeze with their Silkology Facebook page full of fabulous recipes. The other night, while watching a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel, I decided to whip up a drink of my own, a Spiced Winter Warm-Up. The mix of orange, almond milk, and a little nutmeg was heaven!

Here's what you'll need:

Spiced Winter Warm-Up
4 oz. Silk Vanilla soymilk, almondmilk, or coconutmilk
1 oz. spiced Scotch Liqueur such as Drambuie
1/2 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice or orange simple syrup*
2 dashes orange bitters
Grated nutmeg for garnish

Spiced Winter Warm-Up (Non-Alcoholic)
4 oz. Silk Vanilla soymilk, almondmilk, or coconutmilk
1/2 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice or orange simple syrup*
2 dashes orange bitters**
Grated nutmeg for garnish

Let's get cooking:

Place all ingredients except nutmeg in a saucepan and heat just until warm. Pour into a mug and garnish with grated nutmeg.
*Orange simple syrup: Dissolve 1 tablespoon sugar in 1 tablespoon hot water and add 1 tablespoon orange juice. Measure amount needed. **Adds a trivial amount of alcohol

Oh, and if you have a fantastic recipe of your own, you must enter the recipe contest on the Silk Facebook page. Everyone who enters the contest receives an apron from Silk. Three grand-prize winners will receive a KtichenAid Mixer and a free year of Silk! Sweet! Love that.

Also, don't forget to check out Silk’s Facebook page for discount coupons and all 16 Winter Drinks from their master Silkologist.

So prop up your feet and enjoy a cup of holiday cheer!
